What to expect when you visit
When you visit our church for worship, expect to be warmly welcomed and greeted by our members. If you have any questions regarding our facility, feel free to ask anyone and we will be happy to point you in the right direction. As you enter our sanctuary you will receive a worship folder which will share with you information about our worship and walk you through the service. Feel free to sit wherever you would like. During worship you can follow the service in the worship folder and hymnal. After worship on Sunday there will be time for fellowship with refreshments being served on the patio. We look forward to seeing you soon.
How should I dress?
Sometimes people wonder how they are expected to dress at a church they have never visited before. Since the Bible presents no dress code, aside from simple decency and Christian humility, Calvary Lutheran Church doesn't make any rules either. On any weekend at our church you may see suits and jeans, high heels and tennis shoes, t-shirts and ties. When a person dresses out of love for God, the choice of casual dress or more formal is acceptable to God and to us.
Description of Worship Services
Worship at Calvary is a time of reflection, spiritual growth, praise and prayer. Our service begins with some opening remarks by our Pastor and an introduction to worship. The opening song is sung. We then take the time to stand before God, admit our many faults and find freedom from all guilt and shame through the proclamation of Jesus' forgiveness. Following a hymn of praise we hear various readings from the Bible which emphasize the theme of the day. Then our Pastor shares with us a message from the Bible. He applies that message to our life and shares the love of Jesus with us. After the sermon all are given an opportunity to worship the Lord with their offerings. These gifts of love are given to support the mission and ministry of Calvary, as well as offer support to Arizona Lutheran High School (a Lutheran High School in Phoenix) and our Wisconsin Synod (the global church body of which we are a member). We then offer our prayers to the Lord and conclude our worship with the blessing of God and a final song.
We do hope to see you in worship soon.
