This adult Bible class is designed for those considering membership at Calvary Lutheran Church. It offers a welcoming environment to explore the foundations of our Christian faith, ask questions, and grow in understanding.

Flexible Format

Classes are offered in a group setting or one-on-one with Pastor Spaude, depending on your preference and schedule. We want to make sure every conversation feels personal and meaningful.

Bible Study Lessons

Stay rooted in God’s Word with our downloadable Bible study lessons, available for personal growth, group discussion, or teaching. These resources are designed to help believers of all backgrounds explore Scripture with clarity and purpose. Whether you’re joining us in person or studying from home, you can access each lesson to stay connected and spiritually equipped. Bible study sessions are held every Sunday at 10:30 AM during Family Bible Hour and Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM, both available online and in person.


Just Jesus

In a world overflowing with distractions, ideologies, and spiritual noise, the call to focus on Just Jesus is both radical and restorative. Hebrews 12:2 urges us to “fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.” This isn’t just poetic—it’s practical. When we strip away the clutter and center our lives on Christ alone, we rediscover the clarity, peace, and purpose that only He provides. “Just Jesus” means trusting His sufficiency, following His example, and surrendering to His grace. It’s not about religion—it’s about relationship. In this study, we’ll explore how returning to the simplicity of Jesus transforms our hearts, our habits, and our hope.

Lamentations: Good Grief

The book of Lamentations invites us into the raw, unfiltered sorrow of a people grappling with devastation. It’s not just a poetic lament—it’s a spiritual reckoning. In chapter 3, verse 22–23, we find a flicker of hope: “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” This paradox—grief wrapped in grace—is the heart of “Good Grief.” It teaches us that lamenting isn’t weakness; it’s worship. It’s the sacred space where pain meets promise, and where brokenness becomes the soil for renewal. In our Bible study, we’ll explore how honest sorrow can lead to deeper trust, and how God meets us not just in triumph, but in tears.

Defenders and Defamers

The Defenders and Defamers Bible study dives into the spiritual battleground where truth and deception collide. Through the lens of Scripture, this study examines the lives of those who boldly defended the gospel and those who sought to distort or destroy it. From the early church to today’s cultural challenges, participants will learn how to recognize false teachings, stand firm in biblical truth, and respond to opposition with grace and conviction. It’s a call to be equipped, discerning, and courageous—ready to defend the faith while navigating a world full of defamers.


The Anti-Fragile Christian

In a world filled with uncertainty, pressure, and spiritual opposition, the Anti-Fragile Christian Bible study equips believers to thrive—not just survive—through adversity. Rooted in Scripture, this study explores how faith in Christ transforms trials into growth, weakness into strength, and setbacks into spiritual resilience. Participants will discover how to cultivate a mindset that doesn’t merely endure hardship but grows stronger because of it, reflecting the unshakable hope and power found in God’s Word. Whether you’re facing personal challenges or seeking deeper spiritual maturity, this study offers biblical tools to become the kind of Christian who grows through the storm.


The Dissolution of the Synodical Conference

The Dissolution of the Synodical Conference marks a pivotal moment in American Lutheran history, reflecting both theological divergence and the challenges of maintaining unity across diverse church bodies. Originally formed in 1872 to promote doctrinal agreement and cooperative mission work among conservative Lutheran synods, the Synodical Conference gradually unraveled due to growing tensions over biblical interpretation, fellowship practices, and cultural shifts. By the mid-20th century, differences—especially regarding church fellowship and doctrinal clarity—led member synods to withdraw, culminating in its formal dissolution. For our Bible class, this serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of doctrinal integrity, mutual accountability, and the need for humility and grace in theological dialogue. As we study Scripture together, we’re called not only to uphold truth but also to pursue unity in Christ, recognizing that division often stems from both conviction and human frailty.
